## AVPR1A · 12q14.2

AVPR1A encodes a receptor for vasopressin, a hormone involved in signaling between cells.

Personal connection: Inspired by my dad.

A 2009 study of 19 Finnish families reported an association between AVPR1A variants and musical aptitude. This is a research connection, not a single-gene explanation of musical ability. A larger 2022 study found that musical beat synchronization involves many genetic regions.

The marker sits at the center of cytoband 12q14.2 on this schematic. It does not show an exact DNA position or my own genetic variants.

The paternal copy is a visual dedication. This site does not identify which variants I inherited from either parent.
